Way of The Cross Path
Cernik is one of the oldest places in the municipality of Čavle, inhabited back in pre-history, which is evident from the remains on the top of Cernik hill from where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the eastern part of the municipality of Čavle. From the foot to the top there also leads a Way of the Cross walking trail containing a total of fourteen Stations of the Cross along its way. The text of the Stations of the Cross and the Passion of Jesus is written in Grobnik Chakavian dialect and registered in the protected cultural assets of the Republic of Croatia. At its last station, at the very top are three large concrete crosses, visible from all parts of the parish, resembling those from Calvary in Jerusalem.
This Way of the Cross is visited by pilgrims, but also by participants in an organized walk along the Path of St. Bartholomew, which is held every year under the leadership of the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Čavle.
