Fuoco di Sant'Antonio Abate

January 17th is the day when Sant'Antonio Abate is celebrated and it is also, according to the legend, the night when animals speak. It is the night of bonfires too, when sacred and profane come together. The celebration takes place in the church dedicated to the saint, where the blessing of the animals happens. In the morning, the wood begins to burn and it continues throughout the night. The bonfires symbolize the will to leave behind everything that belongs to the past months and the will to start the new year with the best hopes.
