City of Gospić - Murković mill

Murković mill is an old mill on the river Novčica in the city of Gospić, one of the oldest buildings and a symbol of the city. It is part of the historical heritage of Gospić and was once the largest mill not only in Gospić but the whole Lika Field. The owner was Ivan Murković, an Austro-Hungarian army officer and a representative for the Croatian Peasants in the Croatian Parliament. It closed in 1988 when the last miller retired.
Gospić - Croatia/ Lika-Senj county
Tourist experience: The mill is a real rarity today and next to it, there is a small dam on the Novčica River, which is known by “bent” among the locals. It used to be one of the most popular swimming areas in Gospić and is still gladly visited by many passers-by. Renovation of the mill should be done and the water diverted from the Novčica so that the millstone can start grinding grain again. The visitors can still walk along one of three Gospić's river and learn more about Gospić's cultural heritage while admiring beautiful landscape.
