Municipality of Perušić - Kaluđerovac

Kaluđerovac is a village located under Metlača Hill, next to the Lika, that is known for its pottery and interesting old rural architecture. During the 19th century, the inhabitants made clay pots which they traded across Lika, Krbava and Dalmatia. Nowadays, the village is almost unpopulated, and no one does pottery anymore.

Tourist experience: This village is worth seeing because of the autochthonous rural building structure that is present in the historic settlement at the foot of the hill Metlača in the old part of Kaluđerovac. From the village, you can go rafting, kayaking or canoeing on the river Lika all the way to Lake Kruščica.

The Lika River

The Lika is a subterranean river that is also the longest river in the region called Lika. Its spring is next to Mountain Velebit at around 600 m above sea level. Stretching along the karst area of the Lika Valley, it is one of Gospić’s three rivers, it continues flowing down the territory of the Municipality of Perušić, entering the artificial Lake Kruščica and disappearing human eyes in many abysses in Lipovo Polje.
