City of Gospić - Park forest Jasikovac

Jasikovac is a park-forest located in the wider area of the town of Gospić and it spreads on an area of 86 ha. It was named after General Jasyk, who initiated the planting of trees in the Jasikovac. Soon the forest became a famous picnic spot and promenade for the people of Gospić. The first tennis match in this part of Europe was played in Jasikovac in 1900, and the oldest tennis club in Croatia, the City Tennis Club "Gospić 1900", was founded at that time. In the following years, unfortunately, the Jasikovac became more and more destroyed and it losts status of protected area.
For this reason, the Lika Ecological Action launched the ecological action "SOS for the Park-Forest Jasikovac " with the aim of restoring and revitalizing this valuable park-forest. Today the forest park once again serves citizens who like to spend their free time there.
