Tradizioni Ovasta (Traditions of Ovasta)

The Ovasta community still brings forward local traditions and organizes related events.
San Visent ball and Cidules ("traditional fireworks") on January 22.
Madonna Ausiliatrice Feast (24 May), Mass on the meadow.
San Durì (4 July) and “Festa dei vedrans”, ball dedicated to singles.
La in sops con la stella (31 december): children stop by every house and wish a happy new year bringing around a traditional star. Families gibe them little presents.
Another traditional element of this community is the Mesta, a local dish made with polenta, milk, butter and ricotta cheese. The Mesta feast is on August 15 and in this occasion, a big Mesta for all is prepared and seved in front of the local dairy.
